- St Lucia Campus
The University of Queensland’s main campus, located near the Brisbane River, features a blend of historic sandstone structures and modern buildings set amidst gardens and lakes. Gatton campus, in the Lockyer Valley 87 km west of Brisbane, is a historic site founded in 1897. It focuses on agricultural, environmental, and veterinary sciences with extensive teaching and research facilities.

Herston is a hub for UQ’s clinical health teaching and research. Located just minutes from the Brisbane CBD, Herston is home to UQ’ s Medical, Public Health and Dentistry schools, as well as the UQ Oral Health Centre and several globally significant centers for clinical research.

Dutton Park campus is in a dynamic research area, focusing on health, biomedical, and environmental sciences. Situated across from St Lucia and within Brisbane’s innovation corridor, it serves as the main hub for UQ’s School of Pharmacy.
- Master of Arts in Translation and Interpreting
- Overview
Qualify as a professional Chinese-English or Japanese-English translator and interpreter with the Master of Arts in Translation and Interpreting. This 2-year program offers industry-focused training in community translation and interpreting as well as advanced training for in-demand translation and interpreting specializations in health and legal.
Students will acquire essential applied skills in computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, post-editing for machine translation, digital terminology management, and bidule and relay interpreting. They’ll also be prepared for advanced simultaneous interpreting for international business and conference settings.

Approximate yearly cost of full-time tuition (16 units). Students’ fees will vary according to their study load. Fees are reviewed each year and may increase.

International student might be eligible for financial aid – either from their home country, or from the Australian Government.

Students may be eligible for more than 100 scholarships, including Madeleine Taylor Scholarship, Professor Chwei-Liang Chiou Scholarship, UQ Refugee and Humanitarian Scholarship, UQ LGBTQIA+ Bursary and so on.

- a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, with a GPA of 4.5, or
- the Graduate Certificate in Arts in Interpreting from UQ, with a GPA of 4.0, or
- the Graduate Certificate in Arts in Translation from UQ, with a GPA of 4.0, and
- proficiency in spoken and written Chinese and English for the Chinese field of study, or
- proficiency in spoken and written Japanese and English for the Japanese field of study
- English language requirements
IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ
TOEFL iBT (including Paper Edition) – Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19.
PTE Academic – Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands.
BE – A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills.
CES – Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands.
