About NGTV

With approximately 1,200 members, the Netherlands Association of Interpreters and Translators (NGTV) is the largest professional association of interpreters and translators in the Netherlands. NGTV members are highly-educated specialists and the association represents almost all the world’s languages and areas of expertise, from translators of legal texts into English, translators of technical texts into Hungarian to Chinese conference interpreters. Many members are sworn translators and/or sworn interpreters. The NGTV has symbolised quality and reliability for 60 years.

The NGTV is committed to:

  1. Promoting the professional and material interests of translators and interpreters in general and of NGTV members in particular
  2. Promoting understanding of what translators and interpreters do
  3. Strengthening the national and international positioning of translating and interpreting.

The NGTV is the foremost professional association for all interpreters and translators who practise the profession of translator and/or interpreter full-time or part-time, independently or as employees and who meet the quality requirements set by the association. This implies that members of the NGTV possess sufficient education and/or work experience to be able to work successfully as interpreters/translators at a professional level.

The NGTV evolved from a merger in 2000 between the Netherlands Association of Translators (NGV, founded on 22 February 1956) and the Netherlands Association of Interpreters and Translators (NVTV).
